Please take some tips and suggestions for a relaxed ferry experience.

The official name of Santorini is Thira. At some of the internet booking sites, at your ticket, at the boat signs and at the airports you may find the name of our island as Thira and not as Santorini.

** Santorini airport code is JTR. The airport located in Monolithos village near Kamari. All the ferry boats and the flyincats, high-speed arrive and depart from/to Athinios Port. At the Old Port of Fira, arrive and depart the cruise ships and some smaller excursion boats.

** It is recommended to book your ferry-hydrofoil – High speed tickets in advance if you plan to visit the Greek Islands in August (high season).

** It is recommended to book your hydrofoil – High speed tickets in advance, even at the low season. Some of the hydrofoil boats are small and are getting fully booked quickly or at the best case the economy seats will fill up and you will have to pay for the business class or the VIP seats.

**If you don' know which seat or cabin type is more suitable for you, you can buy a economy ticket and on the boat you can upgrade your seat.

** The hydrofoil or the high-speed boats are comfortable and you will arrive at your destination in a short time, but if the weather is too windy sometimes they get cancelled or if they started you will get easily seasick.

** As a passenger you have rights and obligations.

** Some companies have discount offers for families or for early booking. Please check before you book your ticket.

** Either you buy your ticket from the internet or from any agency in the world you will pay the same amount. You cannot buy a ticket on the boat.

** The ferry-hydrofoil-high speed boats before a decade had, the most of the time, delayed departure and arrivals. Nowadays, (unless there is damage on the boat) they leave as they planned. So, it is better if you are at the port 30 minutes before the departure of the boat and one hour before, if you have a vehicle.
